Fees and Costs

The Doctors at Summerhill Medical Centre understand that the costs of treatment is important.  The fees charged by the Doctors will be mostly be bulk billed for Medicare Cardholders.  Bulk-billing does not apply to matters that fall under TAC, WorkSafe or employment or other health assessments.     

For those not eligible for Medicare, our fees are:

  • Monday – Friday: $75
  • Weekends: $85
Fees of referral to other Health Providers
The Doctors may suggest referral to other medical services (e.g pathology, radiology and other health care providers / specialists).  The Doctors can requests they these referred service be bulked bill on your behalf but ultimately any fees charged will be the referee’s discretion.  It is therefore advisable that you contact them to confirm any out-of-pocket fees.
 
From time to time, the pathology collection room operated by Australian Clinical Labs may be closed and the Doctors may assist by collecting your sample. Please note that the Doctors are not aware of the pathology fees.  You should contact Australian Clinical Lab (1300 134 111) to confirm the fees payable (if any) and provide instructions if you wish to proceed. 
 
Overseas Student and Overseas Visitor Health Cover Holder
If you hold an eligible OVHC / OSHC from AHM, Allianz, BUPA, IMAN, Medibank and NIB, the Doctors may bill the insurer directly.
 
Telephone consult – Medicare
Due to changes to Medicare’s  administration requirements on 3/10/2023 for telehealth/telephone consults our Doctors are unable to bulk bill these services. Telephone consult can still be provided for as little as $3.80 out-of-pocket fee.  However, due to the changes, you will need to initially pay $45 for which you can claim a Medicare rebate of up to $41.20.  You can claim the rebate via Medicare Online through MyGov or Express Plus Medicare App (for claiming instructions go to Medicare online account help – Submit a claim – Services Australia).
